White Hall State Historic Site is a 14-acre park in Richmond, Kentucky, southeast of Lexington. Its major feature is White Hall, the home of Kentucky legislator Cassius Marcellus Clay. The site became part of the park system in 1968.
Home of Cassius Marcellus Clay, fiery emancipationist, Publisher and U.S. Minister to Russia. This State historic Site features a 44-room Italianate mansion, shaded picnic areas, gift shop, outside slave quarters and cook buildings. Nestled in rolling farmland, the home was built in the late 1700’s, with a major addition constructed in the 1860’s. The mansion, built in Georgian and Italianate styles, boasts nearly ten thousand square feet with modern innovations of the time such as central heating and indoor plumbing.
