〰️ There are many reasons candles have played such an important role for generations across so many cultures and geographies. Traditions revolve around them. At paz, we believe they allow us to be fundamentally more connected to ourselves and those around us.   #pazhome     #mexico     #oaxaca

Last night at   @portercycles   playing around with hanging candles. We picked up our custom display (not pictured) for   @fieldandsupply   which takes place this weekend at   @huttonbrickyards  . Tom makes custom bikes in Brooklyn, NY and has worked for a ton of talented artists (like Lady Gaga, sesame st) creating beautiful pieces for their shows, tours and shoots. Here’s a ladder he made for his studio - the photo doesn’t do this piece justice at all. We did a trade for candles. Thank you, Tom for your incredible work and for being so kind to paz home 🖤

Hand dipping is a slow process that requires incredible skill, precision and patience to get the candles to look just right. It starts with just a wick and over time after hand dipping by pouring layers of various temperatures of beeswax a candle starts to form like in the short clip above. This is after the original yellow beeswax color has been taken out by the sun and before the natural dye wax layers are poured 〰️   #pazhome     #process   ——— Featured in the video: Taken yesterday of José Hernández, the one of two business partners in paz home.

Natural dyes draw us in not just for their vibrancy, but also because they’re ever changing. Over time, and with the sun, they shift color. Hand dipping with natural dyes also means subtle differences in every candle. This is the process we fully embrace. It’s a reminder to us that we too are always evolving and that not everything remains the same 〰️   #pazhome
